    Hi OP

not sure what you mean when you say 'is this a scam'. Because scam usually involves risk or fraud.

Both hickeys and boots advertise compression socks on their website. They are not new technology, and their benefits are proven and you can see that in how they are sold in pharmacies etc. So compression socks are not a 'fraud'.

they do say talk to your GP before 'prescribing them to yourself'. So thats something to think about.

Now to the brand you mentioned. buying direct from DR sock seems a bad idea. check out trust pilot.
https://ie.trustpilot.com/review/drsocksoothers.com : There is 32 reviews and not one 5 star. but many of the complaints and issues are about the ordering process, delivery times and refunds etc.

Buying from amazon as you suggested, would be much wiser as they have good customer service and i know from experience you will have no problem getting a refund if product is not delivered. If your relative really wants to try this brand, there are available for delivery for under a tenner and amazons name will protect you from any risk.

You could consider trying a different brand, but on amazon these ones do appear about 6th or so when sorted by average reviews, so i would personally buy them and allow the relative to decide for themselves.
