Subaru Forester EGR valve

Hi I had a problem with my 2011 forester. The DPF Light came on a few months back and took it to subaru. They did a DPF Regen and the net day the traction control and engine malfunction light came on.
I rang them and they said it is most likely the EGR Valve. A day or two later the Engine light went out so I left well enough alone.
Last week the same 2 lights came on again so I decided to buy an EGR Valve and replace it. I replaced it and the same lights have remained on . I bought an OBD reader and cleared the codes but the after a few engine starts the same 2 lights come on again. The car is driving fine but the cruise control is not working and this is because the 2 lights are showing as an error it switches off as default. The error code is the Exhaust Gas error P0409

Any help would be much appreciated
