    Hi,
I’m a qualified Maths teacher and am interested in applying for a role as a Resource teacher with an ETB. I’m just wondering if my application would be even considered when I don’t have the SEN Diploma done? Are there any good books available on SEN education In Ireland? Also are there any good websites or apps for Maths resources I could mention if I got an interview?

I think you would still be considered- not enough people have the SEN qualification completed - willingness to do the course would probably be good though. My former school, a large Dublin DEIS ETB school, had nobody with SEN qualification. Nearly every year a teacher completed the course, and then promptly got a job outside Dublin and left.

As a Maths teacher I think they would view you favourably anyway given the shortage - always a bonus to have another qualified Maths teacher on staff. I think you should definitely give it a go!

There were two resource teacher positions advertised in a big school for 22 hours each, advertised as a result of covid that said a qualification in SEN is not required - all teachers registered with the Teaching Council. I would definitely go for it - you have nothing to lose!
