Ive heard somewhere that marts pay more for cattle in northern ireland than the south, is this true? If so, can you sell cattle from southern ireland at marts in the north?

Yes, cattle are making more here than in the north in factories and marts. Lots of buyers from north in the marts round here. Someone from derry in cavan last few weeks. There is a local mart that sells on thursday and another on monday. The monday one is getting more cattle because with the paperwork the thursday cattle wont make it up north till the following week
And long may it continue. Not too often you see cattle going up north and gives good competition to larry and co

It appears so and for quite some time. The last two years we have sold cull cows at the mart for more than we would have go at the factory and they were apparently going straight up north to be sold again within a few days for a profit.
