ASAI banned tampax ad - Reversal possible?

The ASAI banned the tampax ad because 84 people complained about it, not because of the content.

Is it possible to have enough people complain to them about the decision to lift the ban?

We’re a democracy, it’s 2020 (as bad as it is) and we’re still shaming women about a natural and essential function of their bodies.

It should be possible to lift this ban based on as little as 85 people complaining that it happened as that’s the way a democracy works.

There are over two million women in Ireland. They and the men who support them, should be complaining about this ban.

We need a proper letter writing campaign (not email as it’s too easy to automate and fake and also just set a delete rule on) to the ASAI to have this ban reversed.

How many people are on boards? Can we start here and get as many people to write a letter or postcard to the ASAI complaining about the ban and asking for it to be reversed based on being unoffended about it?

For what it’s worth, I thought the ad was woeful but I’m not the target audience being a middle aged male. I know this is all a bit serious for after hours on a bank holiday Sunday, but I wanted the widest possible audience for it.

Why do people care? It's an ad, women will buy the product as and when they need them.

How is banning a vulgar/crass ad deemed to be "shaming women" ?? lol

People pretend how you word things or describe things doesn't matter... (when it suits them) but in truth that's a load of rubbish.

In this make-believe world where the wording of things doesn't matter... why don't we just call tampons "fanny/vag plugs"!? :pac:

And what about all those silly names for pads... where do you think the word nappy comes from? Napkin... So lets just call them "period nappies" or "fanny nappies"... "adult diapers".... because the wording of things doesn't matter, right!? :P

    It's a really annoying ad. That's probably why !

What were the complaints specifically about?

Did I hear it was an interpretation of sexual inuendo and perceived crass delivery of the message? As in "just the tip" complete with a wink etc.

Surely nobody would complan about a straightforward tampon advert.

Is there actually a necessity to start a reversal campaign? Really?

What's this guff about shaming women and trying to sweep bodily functions under the carpet?

There are loads of ads for tampons and liners that aren't banned.

This particular one was banned because it was upheld that it was crassly worded/inappropriate or whatever.

Ads aren't banned based on complaints, but on merits of complaints. We could get 100's of people to complain about any particular ad, that isn't enough to get something automatically banned.

I'm not saying I agree or disagree, but lets at least get the facts right before leaping on the bandwagon and throwing around buzzwords.

It's an annoying ad and should only be on some post 9pm shows that idiots watch.

I don’t think it needs reversing as the act of banning it has been great, free, publicity for Tampax. I hadn’t seen the advert on TV but since the ban I’ve seen it here on boards, on FB, on Twitter and discussed on the radio. The advertising team must be delighted with the result.

I'm still wondering what was vulgar about the ad honestly.
