I'm unsure if I'm falling into some sort of a trap here or not, or if I'm being trolled missing the point entirely or something but to me, that sign has always meant Peace.

Or if you want to get really paddy about it, it could mean 'Cheers' or 'hello' when you're in the countryside and someone driving their vehicle sees someone they know on a personal basis.

Or if you're a spaz like me, i've recently adopted doing what Sir Winston there is doing in your JPEG whenever I see someone I know. It's my new thing, for some reason.

No its not a troll or messing. I am genuinely curious. What does the hit heart part mean.? I know the second part is peace

I have seen young people do it recently in an urban setting , not out in country, small town

I seem to load up a slideshow when I click that link. The picture with Churchill was to symbolise Victory. I'm not sure about the girl before it. All the other pictures look like "up yours."

Its the churchill picture, they are from a wiki page but i though i had zeroed in on Churchill

Victory too i would say as well as peace. i think the hand up straight is more victory? But the first twice thumps over their heart I don't know

I would assume it means the subsequent gesture is “from the heart”.

It is supposed to mean love and peace.

    It actually means.

Look at me. I know all the cool signs. Look at me. I'm so hip. Look at me. LOOK AT ME GOD DAMN IT.

For Churchill, it means I got away with genocide.
