Driving without licence on you

I have passed my test and been approved for my full license - it is to be posted out in 5-10 working days. I have receipt of payment for license from NDLS.

My question for anyone who knows:
What is the penalty if any, if I were to be stopped by a Garda between now and license arriving?

Anything I've found online indicates I'd just have to produce my license at a station within 10 days, but just wanted to be sure..

I would wait, but there is possibility license won't arrive in time for a road trip I had planned.

If you and the guard are both reasonable people you should be ok. But not 100% guaranteed. You're technically supposed to have L plates and a driver with you too until you have a physical license. Again you should be ok but nobody can guarantee it 100%. Some guards might be arses or by the book types.

Interesting today, its been conf that the new mobility app can not confirm information on learner and Novice licenses if the driver hasn't got it on them if stopped, I know your supposed to have a licence on you but seems extraordinary these permits, licences deta are not available to Gardai on the mobility app

Is maith an scáthán súil charad.

Offically you are not a licenced driver until your licence has been approved and printed. You could fail some medical requirements for example. You would be an unlicenced driver if your licence isn't in the post. Im most cases you will be fine.

Op said the licence has been approved and in the post.

If it were me.. i'd drive. I'd show the guards the slip if i was stopped.. they'd give me the guff about how i should be carrying my licence, i'd apologise profusely, they'd say show it at the station, i'd show it at the station.. and the world would keep spinning.

Submitted medical form signed by my doctor when I was applying for the license. Technically all the evidence that I am safe and qualified to drive is out there, just not in my possession yet..

Thanks. This is what I'm assuming is closest to the truth.

I know you're eager OP but it's a safer bet to wait.
