New Fibre to the home connection for new build

So I am wondering if anyone else has been in the same boat and how they got out of it.

Basically I'm building a new house in the west of Ireland. There is a fibre line running on poles through the southern boundary of the site, but the house is about 100m back from this line. I will be running a duct to one of the two poles that are on my site for connection.

So I rang Eir to get the ball rolling and when i gave my eircode they said sorry we can't help you, you're in the amber intervention area so we can't give you fibre. So when you look on the map the eircode location is in the amber area, but the fibre line is 100m south of this. I tried to explain this to the Eir sales person but they actually hung up on me so that was that. I rang again and said i didn't have my eircode and a different person said you should be fine based on what you're telling me but we need the eircode to place an order and get a site survey complete. Once i mention the eircode again its the same story.

I will be running a duct to a pole on my site that has fibre on it the exact same as what my neighbours have done. All my neighbours have fibre to the home, but their houses were already built when the fibre was ran on these poles so they got connected then. Because i'm a new build i'm told i can't get it.

Has anyone else been in this situation and how did they fair out?

Is the pole on your site or on the public land bordering your site?

So, a pole carrying your required service is located at/on your Eircode, and they're saying they can't provide a service from that pole because your Eircode lies outside their service area.

Sound to me you need to complain to Comreg. That requires you to formally complain to Eir and exhaust that process. If that produces no result and you still feel aggrieved, raise a formal case with Comreg. This will all take time so start it asap.

Do EVERYTHING in writing. Phone calls are worthless.

Thanks for that. I will get on to Comreg so. I the meantime I have contacted Westnet and the customer experience is fantastic, they actually listened to me and couldn't do enough for me. So it looks like I will get sorted with them. But Eir were absolutely horrible.

Is there a usable FTTC service available in the area or are you more than a km or 2 from the nearest cabinet?
