Landlords who accept Housing Assistance Payment

Hi, is there any way of finding a list of landlords who accept the above, or does one have to contact each landlord individualyl? I am currently unemployed and eligible for HAP for family reasons too complicated to explain here. I do not intend staying in this position for the rest of my live, i.e. I have a good career history and qualifications and if I find a place ideally would only be paying HAP in the short term, then once I find a job, revert to paying the rent from my own salary.

Is there any website which is more geared towards HAP tenants? Is Daft.ie best or are there other websites? I find Airbnb impossible to navigate.

    Many thanks in advance.

Answering your question in reverse, text emboldened by me.....
You cannot be discriminated against when renting because you are getting certain payments, including HAP, so landlords cannot state when advertising accommodation that HAP is not accepted.

    https://www.citizensinformation.ie/en/housing/renting_a_home/housing_assistance_payment.html

In practice, this means that letting ads. don't say that the landlord will or won't accept HAP payments.

Thanks, Coylemj, I had a feeling they are not permitted to state it is or is not accepted. I see no other option than to contact landlords directly, unless anyone has some visibility into an easier way. Having previously contacted them it seems that neither Dun Laoghaire Rathdown Council nor Threshold maintain lists of landlords who accept HAP.

You won’t have to announce on viewing that you’ve been accepted for HAP. Find a place, sign the lease, then present the HAP forms. The tricky part will be having the funds to cover the rent until the payments come through.

Your landlord might be pissed of, but you’ll be in a position to demonstrate to them that HAP tenants can pay their rent on time and look after a property well.

Yeah, that sounds like a sensible approach.

They wouldn’t have a list of landlords at all in the first place, and it’s against the law for a landlord to refuse anyone just because they are in receipt of HAP.

And then after hand over the papers for HAP to the landlord you can move out again because HAP inspector says house is not up to their standards
Their stupid standards are as a brand new build house
Seen happening 4 times in the last 3 years with some friends
