Problem statement: I hold a bank account with Bank Of Ireland. I need a bank draft for EUR 175.00 payable to Secretary General, Department of Justice and Equality [which is less than your min limit or EUR 500]

    Questions:
    • [1] The last update on thread https://www.boards.ie/ttfthread/2057876584 [last updated on 06 Nov 2019] says "It is certainly a facility to purchase a draft for less than €500 when it is required for the Department of Justice and Equality once you hold an active bank account with us". Can you please confirm that this still holds?
    • [2] From https://www.bankofireland.com/help-centre/faq/can-get-bank-draft-long-take/ I understand "A Bank Draft requested in branch and intended for a payee based in the Republic of Ireland or the UK can usually be provided there and then". Can you please confirm that this is still true? Nothing indicates anything different. I ask in case you have added an online option post COVID-19.
    • [3] From https://www.bankofireland.com/help-centre/branch-opening-during-covid-19/#panel1 I see that Dundrum branch [this is where I bank] is open from Monday – Friday from 10 am – 4 pm unless. Do any additional time restrictions apply when I visit the branch looking for a bank draft?
    [*]

Thanks in advance for your time and help.

    Hi thehedges,

Thanks for getting in touch with us here on Boards.ie.

You can certainly request for a Bank Draft of €175 for the Department of Justice and Equality. These drafts are available as an exception. If you call into your local branch, one of my colleagues will be happy to provide you with this.

I hope this information helps and if you ever have any queries please get in touch!

    Many thanks,
    Megan
