Probably been asked here before but if I could get a few details here it would be great

How much an acre would a young farmer scheme be worth on naked land? So would one have to apply to the national reserve and then get the young farmers top up?

Also how much an acre is the disadvantage area worth?

National reserve entitlements are issued at the average entitlement value for the year - around 264 euro last year I think. You would then get the 25% YF top up on this also if I understand it correctly.

The disadvantaged area is now called the ANC and that depends on the category of land and the number of acres, have a look here https://www.gov.ie/en/service/13d971-areas-of-natural-constraint-scheme/

Thanks for that, so one could not buy entitlements and also look for the national reserve? I presume it would be one or the other?

Said i would bumbp this thread with my question.

When applying for YFS in your 2nd and subsequent years is it your the tick box as part of the BPS application or do you need to go back in again to the young farmer section and reapply there also and re-upload your qualificayion etc etc.?

Is there any benefit waiting till next year to apply for the YFS for the first time and begin the new scheme in 2023?

When was the herd number transferred into your name? Think YFS starts from then.

I'm applying for 1st time this yr so this is what my advisor was saying. He's checking up on it though but the understanding is it just continues into new CAP with better top ups.

Has it been announced what the young farmer top up will be in the new CAP?

    It's more than this year.

“What we are forecasting is a young farmers’ payment of somewhere between €170-€180 per eligible hectare declared by the young farmer. This is a substantial increase on the current €68 per activated entitlement, which would be the case this year.”

Looking like 160-170 per entitlement but not confirmed. I have only 1 year left of the 5 unfortunately

Does anyone know if a person claimed the young farmer scheme in 2015 in the previous CAP - are they eligible to claim on the Young farmer scheme again in the 2023 cap provided they are under 40

and taking over the holding in 2023?

Has anyone made a joint herd number without creating a legal partnership? Has it created any tax issues or capital acquisition tax etc if you did?
