Right interested in a used car-€19.5 k listed. Popular car, almost new.
Buying it straight with no trade in. Bit of a “how long is a piece of string” question but what would be a reasonable offer to make- to save us money and not be laughed out if it?

Honda Jazz 1.3 petrol, 192 mid spec.
I think they’re about 21.5k listed new but new model coming along soon

    €19.5 is ridiculously overpriced IMO

Is it the one in Cranleys with 50km on it?

I don’t think the Jazz is the thinking mans supermini anymore.

I'd start at 15k and not go much higher.

Yea sticker price is saucy so that's why I'm asking what to offer- ballpark. It's not top of the class but it's ideal for what I want it for.

It's a year old so should be I'd say at least 3k off what was paid... At least if not more.... Lot of money.

Seriously? Do you think that's realistic? I'm not bothered about low balling them as not desperate for the car or anything.

20,240 new according to this. So that's clearer at least.

That one is the standard ES model. So it’s €20800 new, plus probably €1k for metallic and delivery. So €21800.

If it was buying one new, I’d want €2000 off seeing as it’s not a big seller, and it’s almost an old model too. So €19,800.

That’s 18 months old, so I’d be knocking €4K off that, so €15800 max.

I’d suggest shopping around dealers for a new one and see what you can get.

Now, if that’s a demo, then it’s costing them the same as a 201 demo, but that’s not your problem, it’s theirs for having it gathering dust for a year and a half, not even bring demo’d as evidenced by the 50kms on it.

Thanks Colm- very sound advice and thank you. Would you offer them €15k and go from there? We are certainly not desperate to buy and not the end of world if it doesn't happen!

I’d say they’ll tell you to get stuffed as they’ll be probably losing €3-4K at that and are probably holding out for a slightly older jazz to trade in against it and move the problem down the road.
If you want a Jazz but don’t want to pay big money, then try and either get one from Northern Ireland, or one that’s been traded in as opposed to demod.

For reference, Cranleys have an identical one with more mileage for €17k. Still too much for one IMO, but they have their little following.

This one would probably work out around €15750-16000

North and U.K. looks good but the person I’m buying on behalf of probably won’t want to do that - she barely wants to leave home county to buy a car. I wouldn’t care but not my decision ultimately. Going to Dublin (an hour away) is a big stretch already!

19.5 k is what you'd expect to be able to get a brand new old model Jazz if any still in stock.

This one could be close to 12 months old depending on when in the 192 period it was registered.

    Id shop around myself.

So apparently the new Jazz is out in the uk, and is exclusively hybrid.

It’s £19000 starting, which means it’ll be crazy money here for a supermini.

I just found this vehicle on Carzone.ie https://www.carzone.ie/used-cars/volkswagen/polo/used-2019-191-volkswagen-polo-comfort-laois-fpa-202002137284381

Still looking...I like the new polo actually, ticks a lot of boxes and very solid safe looking. Tons of them online but all appear to be 1.0 litre 65 bhp which sounds terrible. Not driven one yet but are they as gutless as I’m imagining?
Is there a higher bhp version that no one is buying much here?

Polo appears better value than the Jazz though I rate Honda above VW generally and jazz has a peppier engine

They’re not that bad actually. They’re obviously not fast.

I reckon she should look at a Hyundai Kona 1.0 turbo

Yea must have a look at those.

Polo not that bad performance wise? She wouldn’t be bothered but for overtaking or coming out of junctions I think it’s a safety issue as much as anything

It’s no worse than a 1.2 from a few years ago.
Overtaking would need a bit of planning.
