Has anyone else ever been in this situation? Sounds silly, I know, but it's becoming very awkward.

If ye were 15 I'd understand. Just tell your direct friend you're not comfortable hanging around his friend for the very obvious reasons. You're not asking your friend to not see the other guy, but do it when he's not meeting up with you and your friends.

Maybe a more grown up way of forming the question: have you ever had friends/acquaintances you've had to cut out of your life?

As for the smell, I've heard of people sending a message by discreetly dropping a can of deodorant in the smelly one's coat pocket.

If your friends are uncomfortable with him they should stop hanging out with him, what's the problem??

Why do you have a friend who keeps turning up with a smelly fvcker and then leaving you with him?

It sounds like the smelly kid won't piss off and your "friend" is using you as a way to ditch him.

Next time he texts to meet up, ask if the smelly guy is with him, and then say you're busy.

    Passive aggressive shi'ite.

Just keep the can in your own pocket and blast him when he arrives.

Light a match too ... can burn off the smell.

Just be sure to put out the match before you blast the deodorant... or alternatively just make sure you have it all on video for the lols

Yes. It's unavoidable sometimes and for the best.

Wear noseplugs? You'll be wearing a mask anyway while hanging with your friends so they wouldn't be visible.

Be direct with your friend and tell them you're uncomfortable etc.

Or you could just grow a pair, and tell them they stink!

The OP said he's burping and farting within earshot, and doesn't seem to give a toss... I'd say he's a prime candidate for the blunt approach! (Preferably even bring it up while others are present, for maximum shame!)

"Hey buddy, you planning on taking a shower sometime this month?" Something along those lines... ;)
