    Hi,

There is a currently rented property and there back garden hedge Backs onto my front garden, see attached image.

If o was to put up fender panels on my side, would the hedge learn to grow away from it or is it likely to start busting the fence?

    The hedge is terribly unsightly.

    Thanks

No it won't break the fence, at least not in the short term, if it's properly erected.
The other option is to simply regularly maintain the hedge on your side.

We do, but when it’s cut back it looks shocking, barely any leaves and just thick branches left

The secret is to do it more often!
Cut back hard in Spring if required and then trim in late Autumn.

Agreed, keep trimming it at least twice a year and you'll have something great to look at, easy to maintain, neighbour-friendly - and free!

Thats a griselinia, cut it once a year and it will make a nice, solid "wall" for you.

Thanks all, it just looks so bare after being cut back, will give it a few weeks and see how it goes!!
