If one was to be assaulted/mugged by some of our homeless community and cards/phone/keys were taken by the homeless people in the course of the assault. Then said homeless people were arrested for the offence.

Would the the victim be entitled to compensation (ie to the value of goods/ money taken from card) or do the homeless people get away with not paying any compensation due to their lack of income?

There's a criminal injuries compensation fund. I don't fully know what the metrics are for applying to it but I'm sure google would know.

You could also sue for damages but absolutely no prospect of recovering anything from someone with no money so it would be a complete waste of time and money.

Unless it ended up being a Chester J Lampwick type but unlikely.

Alas, no chance of compensation for property ( even the house keys or fecking glasses).

I guess the best I can hope for is a sentence of some sort although I guess it's probably more likely they receive a suspended sentence.
