08 318i occasionally has no working accelerator when started and idle is hunting when this happens.
Doing a reset by holding down pedal etc cures it for a few days and then it does it again.
Any common fault that causes this?

I don't suppose there is any dash lights you see?
Since you know of the reset, are you already expecting the Throttle Position Sensor to be bad?

A whole pile of dash lights on when it happens.
Tps is the obvious one but that might be abit too easy.
I guess it could just as easily be at the other end - throttle body or whatever.
I read it there now with generic code reader and no faults but reader not capable of doing any further diagnosis.

Worth getting in and giving the throttle body butterfly valve a good clean with a solvent. Move it gently and mind the fingers.

Had a code on same car and was going into limp mode and cleaning cleared it. (well diags cleared it but hasn't come back)
