With the recent and ongoing covid pandemic turmoil, many of us are unaware of current developments.
During a recent visit to Carlow, I saw a new footbridge under construction.
    What other changes are happening?

34 spaces, beyond the track access gate on the laneway up to Bond Bridge. Notice about disruption to access during construction was up on one of the Facebook groups. Have to use the canal bank and the bridge for 12 weeks from August 3rd

    So that's what's going on.

Does the work involve putting in a footpath to protect pedestrians from motorists?

according to Kildare Co. Co. this was applied for in 2011 and an extension of time granted in 2016.

I wonder does much of the traffic parking in Maynooth come in off the M4? Is there any notion of expanding Enfield (2nd platform on the loop) or Kilcock (might need to move the station west a touch to make a passing loop happen) with a view to moving a few trains further west?

That's the timings for the first extension which is done and open. This one was applied for in 2018

I've driven in from Longford to park in Maynooth a couple of times, but in normal times, if you time your journey to hit the quays before 7:30 it's cheaper and quicker to park the car in the Jervis centre for the day. If you're taking the train, you might as well take it the whole way.
