samsung j3 network unlock

    guys

    have a 2017 samsung j3 well out of context and have been provided 3 network unlock codes from the network provider.

    I reboot with someone else's sim inserted and it asks for an unlock code, I type #0111*code# ans I dont get a success prompt. I've tried this for all three unlock codes provided. each time it asks for SIM PUK code or something. wouldnt think I'd need a puk code at this point.
    have done a restore and still not working. the provider has said "send your phone in for repair" but I cant really be without a phone for however long it takes them to sort stuff out.

    anyone any ideas of what might be causing the problem or any solutions other than one of the high street unlock places?
