Some good Jack Charlton Books documentaries?

I would like to learn more about him.

I didnt know he came from a football dynasty for instance. I knew about his brother. I recently found out he supported the minors too.

Can you recommend anything?

His autobiography, written with Peter Byrne, seems to be well received. There's another one "The Authorised Biography", which has less good reviews. I'm afraid I've read neither.

Oh he did. He supported the minors and Author Scarsgill.

He had been a minor at first before going off to play football and his father was a minor. He left because the life was so hard. He was going to be a policeman but tried out for leeds on the same day.

I meant to post this earlier. A documentary covering Charlton and his home town of Ashington, when he was in his 30s. You can see what a grounded man he was, despite his fame, and that he never forgot his roots.

Charlton was a socialist, unlike his more Conservative brother, and had even worked in the mines himself. I think he wrote a pamphlet for Harold Wison.

People i talk to don't really bring up sports much ....imma girl. (sorry to be sexiest for other girls into sports!)

I am also a diff age group.

But i admire him so much and want to learn!

I dont think he did.....I think he and Arthur might have supported the miners though rather than the underage Dublin team

Only slagging.
He was related to Jackie Milburn who is an absolute legend on Tyneside. Jackie played for Newcastle England AND Linfield of Belfast. He won the cup 3 times with Newcastle and there is a statue of him outside St James Park.
Charlton grew up in Ashington a mining town in the North East. Mining was tough dirty dangerous work and it wasnt until the late 60s that the miners started earning good money after getting organised. Mining was the main employer in the North East in those years and families just followed into it
