Old iPhone 7 no charge

Hi, have an old iPhone 7 Plus sitting in drawer for a list 8months. Went to charge it but nothing. Any ideas or is it simply battery is dead dead? Thanks

Costs about €35 to replace the battery in any mobile repair shop.

Take a toothpick or something similar & gently root around the depths of the charging port, the amount of dust, fluff, dirt etc that gets in there is unreal, could just be a connectivity issue

Leave it plugged in for a few hours and it should fire up
