Hanging a gate to a cavity wall

    10 ft gate, what would be the best way to hang it to a cavity wall or would a post be a better job

    Put threaded bar right through the wall with a plate at the back of the wall.

    If the seat's wet, sit on yer hat, a cool head is better than a wet ar5e.

    I'd go with seperate post. Cavity walls are very weak.

    Bolt it though with 3/4 inch threaded bar as mentioned above.
    6 inch sq plate both sides.

    It’s only a 10ft gate lads.

    Put the hanger bolt at the joint of two blocks if possible. That's the strongest part of a cavity block and you won't be weakening the blocks by going through them. An old cutter blade off a mower makes a big enough plate for the back of the bolt.

    Won't work at corner of building tho if poster has same plan as me. I may work to joint too so. Unless there is special rawl bolts

    Works even better on corner of building using a L bracket and fixing through two walls
