Pipework Heat Loss

    Hi all,

I am trying to work out the heat loss from a pipework with a particular thickness of insulation.

Attached is an excel sheet which shows an equation to calculate the heat flow from a multi-layer hollow cylinder. The equation is from ISO 12241:2008, equation 8 and 9.

Using that equation, having a copper pipe with inside diameter of 19.05 and outside diameter of 21mm, 20mm insulation with thermal conductivity of 0.03 has a heat loss per metre of 11.27.

I am wondering, am I using the correct equation and if I am, is the the result correct for the inputs?

    Regards,
    Stephen
