CO2 inflator recommendations

After a disaster with a valve core today meaning a bailout to a taxi ride home I need to get my hands on a more idiot-proof CO2 inflator and/or CO2 inflator/mini-pump combo. Must be small though as I'd like to fit it into my bottle cage toolkit.

Ideally something I can screw on the cartridge before approaching the valve and then regulate the flow precisely and finely into the valve - not an "all or nothing" jobbie. The one I have is too binary.

Looking for actual experiences here, not just "this one on CRC looks great" - more of a "I have this model and it's 100% idiot-proof (plus light, durable, and compact)

I use a really basic springloaded one. If you're a bit ham fisted with the removal, any of them can rip out the valve core, maybe it's the freezing effect. But I've been lucky with it so far. Not that I've had many punctures for ages but I did have one last weekend going up Sliabh Mann and all was good.

I use the one in the link below. It's worked perfectly every time. I attach it to the valve before screwing in the cylinder.

I also have the one below on a different bike but have only used it once. I'd no problems with it.

Both regulate fine. If they had a pressure gauge they'd be better but that's getting a bit bulky for my small saddle bags.

I've got the older version of this one, which includes a pump, which is great if you're out of CO2, or you want to pump the tyre a bit, to ensure that it's properly mounted, before hitting it with the CO2.

For the price, it comes with two cartridges.

Thanks gents - some good ones there. I think what I will do is get one of the inflator heads with a decent regulator, perhaops even a push-button one if I can find such a thing.

Separately, a mini-pump I can bind to the seatpost would be useful, I've seen some bottle cages with attachments for pumps - again, any recommendations?

I have this on a couple of bikes (they have a cheaper plastic one too). I have the same brand pump, so can’t comment on what other pumps do or do not fit
