Excellent documentary on the 2003 war in Iraq. Testimonials from us army, survivors of the war and reporters on the ground. It was a complete disaster. US left them high and dry.

Has anybody else watched this? Certainly one of the best documentaries on TV recently, brilliant selection of interviewees and the footage shows the brutal reality of the whole situation. Some moments are utterly distressing and the attitude and decision making of the Americans is galling.

Great to see brutally honest viewpoints from all sides, the storyline of Lt Col Sassaman time in Iraq was incredible. Really summed up the early days of the invasion.

Looking forward to watching the remainder of the series over the weekend.

I've not watched yet but it's on the list. Might bump it up the list a little.

Part two was very grim for how someone dedicated to his job went over the edge because he started to be emotional rather than rational in an environment that was irrational.

I missed this at the time and really want to see it, would it only be on a geoblocked BBC iPlayer or do Netflix have it?

Cheers just set it to record there. Though Sky box is saying it is episode 4 of 5. Annoyed I missed the first 3, will have to try find them online.

I dont think theres ever been a war like it where before it kicked off a majority of the public knew it was being waged under completely false pretenses. Everyone remembers weeks of footage of the UN weapons inspector Hans Blix looking for WMD and finding nothing. But then the UK and US unilaterally went to war anyway off the back of false intelligance and a claim that Saddam could bomb us in 45 minutes. You had Bush and Blair praying to god together like they had gotten an instruction from the man himself. It was like a religious crusade for them.

And then in the background Cheney, Rice and Rumsfeld who were hawks that just wanted to go to war regardless. They absolutely wrecked that country for no good reason other than American hegemony and oil.

As far as I can see the BBC have shown 3 episodes of 5.
The first was War, second was Insurgency, Fallujah was last week, Saddam is tomorrow and Legacy is on the 10th.

BBC2 is repeating them late on Sunday nights. Episode 2 Insurgency is tonight at 2.50am. Episode 3 Fallujah is next week at 5am.

nice one Brian, have just set the box to record that repeat in the wee hours so at least I'll get to see episode 2 and 3 on top of 4 and 5 later

yeah the final episode was a great watch. That woman who gave refuge to 50 odd army cadets had some courage. If she had of been caught she would have been tortured and killed by ISIS.
