Hi just a quick one....I'm going building an extension to my house I had every thing ready and more a less going to be able to draw down the mortgage next week I just needed the Engineer to stamp a form. But now the Engineer is after telling me that we have to get our house accessed BER cert before we can go ahead with the planned extension. I bought my house 5 years ago and did the cosy wrap insulation and once that was completed I got a BER cert on existing house. Should this BER do for my planned extension or do I have to do a new one again...Thanks

sounds like your falling into the 2019 NZEB regulations, which means youre doing works to more than 25 % of your building envelope.

this means that in order to be building regulation compliant, the whole house must meet a min BER of B2 when finished.

The only way to assess that is to do an assessment now to ensure the works you are carrying out with at least get you to a B2
