How long does it take for a transaction to show up on a credit card?

It entirely depends on when the merchant chooses to process the transaction... it could be within 24 hours or less or as long as a couple of weeks, it is a bricks and mortar business.

Some will/can show up instantly, others weeks, all depends on how the store processed the transaction, and how your card issuers updates your statement.

More details supplied will give a more detailed answer.

It should show as pending immediately and as a proper transaction whenever the merchant processes it.

You'll often see PayPal transactions show up on AIB instantly for example.

This is all very weird. I used PayPal and still no transaction showing up. Not even as a pending transaction.

I think some may be mixing up debit/credit cards IMO. Credit cards can take a few days to reflect the transaction in my experience. Debit cards will show as pending pretty much immediately and remove the amount from your total and then clear as completed a day or so later.
