47 - 55 inch TV with secure stand

    Hey guys,

I am in the market to replace my LG 47" TV. We would like to go to 4K, HDR, same size or bigger (up to ~55"). Budget would be €500 - 600. The LG has been rock solid, so would have a bias towards that brand, but open to other options too.

    Some additional needs:
    • 3 x HDMI (I assume this is standard in this day & age)
    • Smart TV isn't that important (again, I assume it's standard, but would likely keep using firestick)
    • It will go on a TV stand that isn't as wide as the TV, so a central stand is preferred. In addition we have a toddler with additional needs who has a tendency to pull at the TV. The stand on our current one is super chunky and heavy, so TV won't go anywhere (https://www.flatpanelshd.com/article.php?subaction=showfull&id=1396941506 see the section under LG LB6500 for example). We would need something similar or some other way to secure the TV without wall mounting it. This is a key need.
    [*]

Hope this helps with recommending something. Thanks in advance!

(Note: this is going to be a gift to myself in August, but if there are better options coming in September can wait until then.)

Have you seen the like of this?

    https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B01AVKKTF4/

They attach to any TV with standard VESA mounting points

    Hi Jumbone.

As these would not be an item we would stock I wouldn't be confident to recommend them unfortunately but there does seem to be a lot of places online selling them.

At one point we did do a wire version of them (more industrial looking things) but they didn't stay a stock line for very long, although the fabric straps are more likely the ones you would be after.

I've checked our stock listing and there is nothing I could even offer as an alternative.

Just posting to help as am a RS customer. Hope folks don't mind.

From the OPs needs this stand may work. I have the same need and stand. It's also allows for taller sound bars.

I was more so pointing out their existence in case that allowed the OP to drop the requirements around a sturdy stand

    Hi Jumbone.

Sorry I though you were asking us here at Richersounds a question or posting for a product.

    That looks perfect.

Back to Richer Sounds staff so, what would your recommend tv wise if you scratch the need for the sturdy stand and I can add this instead...

    Hi dulpit,

If you like the LG TVs I would recommend one of the LG 55SM8050 Nanocell TVs! They have a fantastic panel as well as a great smart hub! They're a bit above budget at 659 euro but have give the best specs for the price!

Let me know what you think!

    Kind regards

Hey, that looks like a lovely TV set, but is probably beyond out budget. I'm not wedded to LG, so would happily look at competing brands at a lower cost?

    Hi dulpit,

The LG would have the best specs for the sze, to go down in rice you would be dropping to a 49 or 50" TV. I would recommend something like the Philips 50PUS7805 at 529 euro! This TV would have a direct lit LED panel and would also support Dolby Vision which the LG would not!

Snipping posts at this point will badly disrupt the thread so :

    @jumbone, MAJJ,

Please take a moment to read the Charter - Queries here are for Richersounds to answer, pitching in your opinion here is not appropriate, notwithstanding any helpful intentions.

Also, links to other retailers are not welcome on this forum, save where you are genuinely looking for a price-match.

This is not a discussion forum, the Charter gives clear information on posting standards here.

If you have any queries about the Charter, feel free to PM me.

    @All,

Any more interventions on this thread will be deleted without further notice.

If you have a query for Richersounds or you’re looking for a deal, folks are absolutely always welcome to open a new thread and post away.

@The Ritz - thanks and also thanks to Majj ( long time no chat :) ) & jumbone

    Dulpit

We could do a Boardie deal and squeeze the LG 55SM8050 down to 619€ for you? Like you I love the LG OS, it just works!

..however it does not have a really solid base, but 2 separate legs at each end, it is stable but possibly not kidproof - as Majj suggested the SANUS VTVS1 is a great option if you want a more stable base and it also gives you the option of changing the height of your TV to allow for a soundbar and to 'twist' it around so you can watch it from different angles:

Thanks again guys and keep us posted if we can ever assist in any way,

    Best regards,
