I have a budget of approximately €8,000. That is for the car, my insurance will be coming from a seperate budget.

This will be the first car that I have sole ownership of but years of being named driver on various models from Qashqai to Passat. Full License.

My weekly milage will be approximately 300km, however every second week or so I will be taking a round trip of 600km total in addition to that weeks 300km. So in a month you'd be looking at around 2400km per month.

I'm looking for something comfortable, but something that I hopefully wouldn't have to bringing to the garage every 2nd month - so somewhat reliable.

There is an outside possibility that it could be holding a baby car seat over the course of its time with me so I wouldn't want anything too small.

I like little perks like electronic handbrake, auto brake and hill hold - but I'm aware that a lot of this stuff is probably at the next price range up due to the dates when it became normalised so this is more a hope rather than a realistic want.

I would be looking to keep hold of this car for around 3 years.

I literally don't even have the slightest idea where to start so any recommendations would be thoroughly appreciated.

As a starting point, how about a Nissan qashqai ?

    Absolutely wouldn't rule it out.

The two main cars I'm looking at today are a Volvo V40 and a Mazda 3, if anyone has any experience of those?

Seat Cordoba? The last model Cordoba was launched in 2003 and even the last ones sold are now 10 years old.
