Hi guys looking at these bloody pipes coming from underneath the guttering (soffit) any idea what they're for or if they serve a purpose. Thinking of snipping them and covering hole. Just looks like another draught to me

Are they not overflow pipes for water tank in attic? (Although, that would only explain one of them). You wouldnt want to be without an overflow pipe!

Have you examined them from inside the attic?

Overflows for the tank in the attic I'd imagine. You can seal around them, but don't cut them.

They’re probably (although with the way some builders operate, who knows???) the overflow pipe from your water storage tank in the attic and/or your central heating if it’s not a sealed system. Do not cut them as where else will any water go if their is an issue with your water tanks like the cistern ball coming off it’s arm and the tanks overflowing? The answer to that btw is into your house which you don’t want. I wouldn’t worry about draughts getting in around them as attics need to be ventilated. However you might get wasps getting in and building a nest in your eaves. Maybe just seal around them with silicone? Be careful if you’re not comfortable on ladders

Thanks for the swift reply guys. That makes so much sense. I'll seal around them so. Thanks again
