    After a few false starts I'm getting ready to pull the trigger on a purchase. Budget 10/11k - petrol/hybrid - 95% city driving - Golf size range - hatchback - decent spec with parking camera/sensors. Must have central armrest - just a thing with me. Dimensions important as access to rear parking via narrow back lane thus Golf size.

    I have posted on this before and got loads of good advice thanks - but now need to buy. Think I'm becoming a nervous buyer though as you can get negatives on most cars. I've been scared off the Focus 1.0 due to turbo issues. Seems to come down to Ceed/i30 1.4 or Golf 1.2Tsi. Lots of UK i30s for sale here - any concerns I should be aware of other than mph v. kmh ??. Perhaps a Leon...plus auto/DSG a possibility.

    Plan is to buy Sept-time so I won't keep asking the same questions !!. Any other recommendations or strong views ??.

    Can't go wrong with a leon! Maybe consider new skoda scala as alternative to focus.

    I30 is also solid.

    Scrap scala edit as budget is 11k...

    Good options in your shortlist the leon would be top for me due to looks better interior and the tsi engine is very smooth and nippy
