Leasing cows

Hey all, does this happen much in the dairy industry?

Wouldn't hear of it much but I can see where it would be logical for some such as keeping down the stocking loan exposure and where facilities are scarce.

For the man with the cows he's getting possibly a decent return if at 10% of value of cow. Far better than selling cows and putting money on deposit anyway.

Would a scenario arise say where the owner would have to take them back and milk them himself I wonder? Be less than ideal most likely

Since quota went is it done anymore? Wouldn’t see why the owner would bother

Have some cows leased out trying to find a lease farm and didn't get sorted before calving so leased them out

But you have to give back cows the same age when the lease is over. If you leased 80 first Calvers for 3 years after the 3 years I’d up you have to hand back 80 first calvers If the same type.
