My mobile phone(Vodaphone Smart X9) is damaged around the charging port area. Bits of the body are chipping away.

The phone is working as normal.

My phone's battery is poor and needs frequent charging so I use it a lot while it is charging.

Considering the damage near the charging port Is it risky to use this phone while it is charging.

Thanks in advance for advice on this.

I'm not sure I'd be using it at all, tbh, and I certainly wouldn't leave it charging unattended.

With a plethora of budget Android phones today with massive 4500+mAh batteries in them, I'd seriously considering changing phones. A modern phone battery shouldn't die so soon that you need to use it while charging, it's also not safe if there is a damage to the port.

Your Vodafone phone is very basic, 3100mAh battery with a Snapdragon 450. You could save yourself a lot of heartache by avoiding a repair and buying yourself any one of the following phones for under €150.

    Moto G8 Power - https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B085JBFZVR/

    Redmi Note 8T - https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0872PGVYP/

    Nokia 5.3 - https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0891GQFFN/

and the phones below are recommended on it from time to time and also on Gsmarena's phone guide. Is there much difference between them and the phones you recommend. Is the difference in price justified?

    Realme X2. €181
    Realme 5 pro. €199
Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 pro €219

Providing the charging port isn't damaged and most importantly the battery isn't damaged and it clicks into place you're fine to use it while it's charging. Dropping the phone can damage the battery.
Look out for it overheating, don't leave it under your pillow, on a radiator, in sunlight etc esp when charging.
Always use a decent charger, ideally the one that came with the phone or recommended by the manufacturer. And don't get your battery replaced by one of those corner-shop style phone shops, use authorised repair centres only.

Btw i use a p30 lite and I'm happy with it.

Thanks, I've checked battery usage and my screen accounts for 30% on a low brightness setting.

There's is an RCS phone app that's using 10% and an Android Service App using 9.3%.

I don't know what these apps do but since they've started showing up in the usage menu my phone's battery has been poor.

Note 8 Pro if your budget stretches, excellent camera and battery life, lovely screen and has NFC. Bought one for the wife not too long along.
