Clumsy phrasing in the media

THE EUROPEAN COURT of Justice (ECJ) has ruled that a key arrangement designed to protect the misuse of EU citizens' personal data when it is transferred to the US is invalid.
It really bothers me when reporters fail to phrase sentences in a way that reports the the facts accurately, and "protect the misuse" is particularly poor. Does nobody proofread their content before posting?

Indo headline: Woman who stole €12 worth of cider jailed

The story underneath reveals that the woman in question was already in prison and the judge made her theft sentence concurrent.

Typical Irish Indo - it may be under new ownership but it's still fit only for wiping one's backside on.

A primary school in Cork city has told parents of pupils that is has (sic.) a positive case of Covid-19 within the school community.

:D are schoolkids and teachers an ethnic group now?

    'Cyclist/pedestrian hit by car'.

It's should be cyclist/pedestrian hit by motorist. Cars don't just cruise around by themselves, someone needs to be at the wheel.

EDIT: - Yes, I know, a car can have it's handbrake let off and move by itself, but in most cases there's a driver.

The "cyclist/pedestrian hit by car" is correct. The motorist didn't hit them. If the motorist did, then your headline would be correct.
