The TWSS on the surface seemed like a good idea but it's looking like there is some questionable practices at play. The spirt of the scheme was to assist in retaining staff by subsidising 75% of payroll, helping business survive and trade out of this pandemic crisis, however......

    A. Widesoread abuse of the scheme being reported
    B. Wages being cut without consultation
    C. Businesses claiming the subsidy despite trading normally
    D. Businesses claiming the subsidy despite being fully closed (yes that's permitted)
    E. Numerous businesses not topping up wages, basically staff work normal hours for 75% wages.
    F. Payroll being submitted not reflective of hours actually being worked by employees.
    G. Tax being deducted by employers despite TWSS not taxed at source

    Just a few examples

Esthetically THE TWSS is more palatable from a stats perspective but yet costing far more than PUP. The government seem hell bent on ending or reducing PUP and yet THE TWSS is in essence more costly and likely being abused.

    Thoughts welcome.....

Is maith an scáthán súil charad.
