Sneaky Irish ferries cancellations

So Irish ferries are playing the cute hoors here. You can book the swift ferry still, which I have done for next week, and it cost me more than the regular ferry to book when i did it, also booked club class.

Now i find out that they have been cancelling the swift for the last months on a weekly basis and will probably next week also. And there is no club class open anyway.

So they will let me know the day before and move me to a same day regular ferry which would have been cheaper in teh first place and now means a 5am 6hr drive!

Oh and they say you get no money back for these!

    Sneaky!

Just about to board and IF now and saw a sign to say club class closed but that you'd get a refund

Where does it say that they won't refund the difference?

If YOU make the change there is no refund, but if they make the change, I would assume that they would provide a refund. They certainly did a couple of years ago

Can't see why op wouldn't get a refund?

I spoke with them, so they will refund teh club class alright. But not the difference in ferry price, even though from what I heard they havent run the swift in ages anyway. You can still book for next week!

Don't think the Swift has run for the last three months.

This is what I heard today..but you can still book on it and I have even spoken to them twice to make changes and they never mentioned that it was cancelled or due to be. I have swift booked in both directions...Thats damn right sneaky..

    just got my confirmation

Irish Ferries regrets to advise that due to extraordinary COVID-19 circumstances, the DUBLIN SWIFT Fast Ferry sailings of Thursday 23rd July have been cancelled. Irish Ferries sincerely regrets the disruption caused to our customers’ travel plans and can confirm that all impacted passengers can be facilitated on sailings on alternative ferries (Ulysses)

I should have just booked P&O Liverpool, would have worked out much easier

Was also due to travel on Swift 23rd July , called Irish_Ferries and got through on 2nd attempt.
Processed refund straight away no problem.

theres no issue with full refund of course, but I do want to travel, issue is i paid extra for swift, they knew it wasnt probably going, but now I get moved to ulysses...and no compensation.

To be clear (and thanks to next poster) by compensation I mean purely a refund of the difference in price, nothing else

There's no right to "compensation" - I know you probably mean refund of difference, but others may not.

As the service you are being provided is of lower value, you should be given a refund of the difference.

Maybe cancel, get a full refund and take the trip by Stenaline and let them know that it is because the cost by Stenaline is cheaper
