Having a new timber front door custom made for a historic house.
Currently it has a nightlatch along with a mortice lock. Which seems pretty standard.

But since I'm getting replacement ironmongery, I was wondering is there a better, more secure way of doing it? Should I be looking at a multipoint lock?

Is there any reason not to go for a lock which you need to manually lock fom outside? Obviously there's a risk you don't lock it. But there's a much greater reduced risk of locking yourself outside.
