Buying and VRT

    SO if you live in the UK and buy a car in the Southern Ireland which was previously purchased in the UK but VRT duty paid on it, when you buy it can you reclaim back the original VRT paid?:)

    Not exactly.

    You need to be the registered owner of the car in Ireland.
    You also need a PPS number

    VRT needs to have been paid in the first place (hard to verify)

    so basically colm, its only if you are moving to the UK you can reclaim and even at that not straightforward
