Looking to buy a new car with the current scrappage deal of 3,500euro. Read some good reviews on the Peugeot and the JD power ranking it top in reliability. Looking for thoughts and opinions on the two cars and any tips in haggling with the dealership. TIA

Personally I'd be 3008, I don't think the Tuscon has aged well. Maybe it's just it's been out longer with moderate facelifts. Peugeot have done very well with there latest stylings and are making very nice and interesting cars, inside and out.

Sister in law has a 3008 and they love it, can't fault it.

Haggling may be a problem if you're going scrappage as trade in is generally a good "flexible" figure you can barter with between dealers. When sister in law bought they went to Bluebell, Dublin who beat other dealers by a significant amount.

Where are you based? If you are near Nenagh,
Check out Slattery's Garage (Puckane). great to deal with first class,
And i would pick the 3008 over the Tuscon.

The Tuscon has been around since late 2015 and is due to be replaced with an all new model in early 2021. The 3008 has only been around since mid 2017 but is getting a mid life facelift by the end of this year. I'd say you will probably get more discount off the Tuscon at this stage but I'd still go with the 3008. It's more stylish than the Tuscon is two a penny on the roads these days.

Had a 3008 as a hire car in Birmingham for a few days. Generally would never have been keen on Peugeot but it was a comfortable, modern and great driving car.

Thanks for the feedback, was leaning towards the Peugeot 3008 and also the road tax for 3008 is 200e to tuscon 500ish. I'm based in clondalkin so bluebell is only down the road. Plan was to do a round of Peugeot dealers and see what they offer. Thanks for the feedback everyone

Definitely 3008 for me. Spent a day recently in a brand new Tuscon and it's fairly spartan inside and not especially nice to drive either.

3008 all day over the Tuscan. It’s a great design and looks interesting in a sea of same design SUV’s. Great interior too.

Hell of a lot more bang for buck in a 3008 too.

We bought a Peugeot 3008 diesel automatic in March 2019. It is a fantastic car in every respect, comfort, reliability, responsive and giving close to 50mpg. I have had about five French cars, Renaults, Citroen’s and earlier Peugeot’s and had a lot of problems, then I discovered Toyotas and thought I had died and gone to heaven ! But when we were told about the new 3008 by a trusted mechanic and read up on its reviews we bought one, and I can’t fault it. 53,000 km in a year and a half and not one problem.
