90s female led british crime drama

I'm trying to find a crime drama I saw in the 90s.

All I remember is that the main character was a female inspector.

It was quite gritty I think and sounds very like prime suspect but from what I remember the main character had a more gravelly voice than Helen Mirren.

The scene that most sticks in my mind is that someone has a peephole directly above her bath and films her and (I think) sends the video to her squad. In the video she's singing.

Anyone any ideas? It may not even be British but I think it is. And it may actually be Prime Suspect but I don't think so.

Pretty sure it wasn't Victoria smurfit (too glamorous) but might actually have been her predecessor. I'll have a watch and see. Thanks

Silent Witness maybe it started in the mid 90's and is still running with a host of female leads.


Amanda Burton would have been the lead in the 90's.

Definitely not Maisie Raine or silent witness. Could be from the 80s though if my parents let me watch it when I was 8 that would be very irresponsible

I'm thinking it might have been trial and retribution pre Victoria smurfit. Gonna watch some episodes and see does it stand out.

Hmmm could be but I don't think so. Also 98 is a bit late. Ive started watching trial and retribution and it's feeling familiar. Think I may have imagined that her voice was very gravelly. The main male detective is feeling familiar.

There was something with Amanda Donahoe and Kris Marshall , might have been late 90s
