Does anyone in the legal profession use transcription services?
If so who do you use?
I hope this thread is in the right area.

    Market research?

Yes, looking to set up a transcription business in the near future which will offer a significant cost saving, if thread is in wrong place or not allowed then please merge or remove.

It's all right once you're straight up about what you're after imo.

People tend not to like being market researched without opting into it. There is also a provision of the site-wide terms of use that you cannot use the site solely for market research. The inclusion of "solely" means using it for market research may be ok if also using the site for other reasons.

I thought about it a while back, it's lucrative but mind numbing work. I work for a 'company' that needs quite a bit of transcription done, everything is done to avoid having to do it, and when it is needed it's done professionally at massive cost.

You'd probably need to start doing it on the cheap for research students to build a reputation.

Another pit fall is pricing the job wrongly. We had a job that got quotes from mid four to high five figures (translation also involved). The poor bastards that got the job regretted it.

Thanks for the advice. Yea we'd be doing it at a more competitive price than current competitors with more transparent pricing.
I know privacy is a big concern, do you think that a company like yours would be willing to move to a company like this thats gdpr compliant etc. Do all legal companies use transcription services regularly?

I work in the public sector so it would be a tender process etc. Not sure how willing they'd be to move. Can't speak to how much Law Firms use transcription services.

There are stenography firms which operate in courts. There are dictation services which provide transcripts of material given to them as sound files. What exactly are you planning to offer?

Operating as a dictation service. We'd be offering a service that would be cheaper than current competition. There would be 3 packages. Basic, standard and premium all at a fixed cost per minute, with no strings attached. Just wondering how willing legal firms would be to switch to a new company thats gdpr compliant etc.

If there are firms using such services currently, they would be always willing to deal with a lower cost offering.
