Does anyone know do you have to present an imported tractor at the NCT centre to register it or can it be done once you pay the fee

You have to present the tractor and pay the fee.
Not all NCT centres do re-registering.
Check their website or call them to book a time in the closest centre to you that does this.

Did you fly over to see it first or chance your arm of a reputable dealer you already knew?

no it was brought into Armagh by a reputable dealer in Portadown , drove up with the brother in law whos a farmer too and fairly tasty at looking at machinery, he picked out a few small things that needed sorting like seals leaking on loader etc. bought there and then. you knew it was too good to let go. When i got the log book the back story completely checked out. it was bought from new by a government ran nature reserve in south of england on marsh/fens. all it did was tow a trailer and lift a few things now and again with the loader, arms rarely if ever had an implement on them. there were floatation tyres on it and the dealer put 4 brand new ones on.

might do no harm to borrow rotovator ( some other power hungry implement) if a lot of hours put up at tick over. Good buy, they have a great reputation, you'll lose nothing in value on this over the next few years.
