Will this charge my car?

    Hi Folks,

Would this have enough power to charge the battery in my 2liter petrol accord.

    argos.ie/static/Product/partNumber/7405392/Trail/searchtext%3ECAR+BATTERY+CHARGER.htm

Car won't start after around 30 hours of leaving idle. It just ticking over now and be dead by the morning. This has happened a few times. I only got a new battery a week ago.

Alternator was charging at 13.5v and don't think that's really powerful enough.

If this charger does the job i'll probably just bring to an electrical guy in town who is actually very good with prices and a sound bloke. Jump starting not an option at the minute as parked in garage.

Now the battery reading is 11.57V and just getting the ticking noise and will probably be completely flat by morning.

Anything to be checking here that is easy. I've tested all the amps from the fuses themselves and they seem fine. My guess is the alternator is on the way out.

No data sheet, but from sticker look like 1.5Amp - it'll take ages to properly charge car battery. Toy tools for toys...

    Link doesn't work for me.
Ask in local motor factors, they will help you.

Ended up getting it and have taking the battery out of my car and currently on charge.

With the posistion my car is in its nearly impossible for someone to jump it unless I get 6 meter jump leads and steering is locked.

Have it booked in to an electronics place anyway for Thursday morning. Should be charged by then anyway hopefully!

My car battery went flat over lockdown and got one of these - a great piece of kit.

When fully charged it easily has enough power to start the car and is small enough to fit in the glove box. You can also use it to power laptops, phones, etc.

Thanks for the suggestions folks, tried to start the car there an hour an ago after charging for six hours and it started it and brought it for a 45 minute spin on the motorway.

I was looking up parasitic draw and tested this with multimeter and something is draining the battery when car turned off. I also tested each fuse for amps but nothing showing so my guess is the diode in the alternator?

I have left the battery disconnected from the terminals now in car.

Any suggestions what else I can do before bringing to electrics place on Thursday.

I wouldn't really be the type of person to take out alternator myself or anything like that as absolute brutal be mechanics or anything that involves tools. There does seem to be a small bit of noise coming from it when car is running.

would you not get the battery drain sorted.if ur saying the altenator is charging at 13.5 while not great is still good enough to recharge ur battery. your problem is whats causing the battery drain. get that sorted and u shouldn't need your battery charger.

Ended up sorting it myself. Was acutally the radio drawing power so have the fuse out now. Might get it sorted properly eventually.
