Is there a time limit on how long this should take, and would it not be better if the moderators in question posted an update one way or the other?

At the moment it just seems like a means of making threads disappear.

Is there a particular thread you are referring to?

If it's the one I'm thinking of, the closing note has been updated to confirm the thread will not be re-opened

So, the one that you reported has been dealt with, the other (which you have not reported) has not. If you think there is merit in re-opening the second it's easy enough to report it of drop a PM to the mod
