There isn't really a background check in Ireland as such, akin to what they have in the USA for example. However, there is Garda vetting available to certain organisations but the information given by the national vetting bureau relates to convictions and pending prosecutions as well as disclosing certain "soft information" if there is a risk to children or vulnerable people.

If it is not too personal, what kind of job is it?

I wonder might the OP be referring to the terms of the modern slavery act in the UK?

    Sample statement here

I recently had to apply to be vetted by a firm in the UK who are a client of the company I work for in Ireland. It was fairly standard stuff, employment and education history, previous addresses and names, but also included giving them permission to do a credit check.

It's somewhat awkward not knowing what it is you don't want them to find but of course you do not have to disclose that here.

It looks like they just examine credit history fwics but may also google your name and address for any newspaper reports that may relate to you.

If you aren't going through the formal garda vetting process, then it will depend what is in the public domain.

No not looking to disclose it here but there was no Garda vetting form to fill And there is no access to Children/vunerable adults etc in the position It’s an Experian background check, just curious as to what info they obtain
