Is there an age where you're too far gone if you've never worked?

I turned 22 and never had a job in my life. At the start of this year, I said I'd get a job in the summer but looks like coronavirus has halted that, but I'm still not giving up. Handing in CV's in Drogheda and applying online on Indeed, jobs.ie.

The thing is, someone said I shouldn't bother applying and just go for volunteer work because if an employer sees that I haven't worked at 22, they will throw my CV in the trash. Is it too late for me or not.

I'm going to college in Sept/Oct so I hope to have a part time job.

What did you do from 18 - 22?

I would ask you that question in an interview.

I was expecting to hear from someone in their 50s when I saw the title.

OP keep applying...you're young yet. It's going to happen for you. Keep trying for jobs.

    No, It's never too late.

My friend had a job at 17, it moved location (30 minute bus away as opposed to 10 minute walk) and he never went with them.

He did nothing and openly sat on his arse for nearly 15 years, never applied for a job, never made a CV

Eventually Social put him into a Carers course. 3 years later and he is loving live and could count on 1 hand how many days he has missed.

I have never seen him happier, we as a group of friends were shocked how he adjusted!

I had one official job between 18 - 22. I worked in retail at 19 one Christmas. Other than that I worked casually during the Summers, but it was never FT and consistent.

I've been working FT now for the last 2 years.

One of the last guys I hired was 64, he was with us 18 months when he retired.

Perhaps he spent his time posting snide comments on online forums.
