Washing up time?

    Hi

Would the lads working in a steel fabricator workshop be entitled to washing up time before breaks or going home? or would washing be something to be done on the break time or after clocking out for the day?

Is there anything in employment law etc to cover this?

There wouldn't be anything decontamination or significant degowning like in some industries.

    Thanks

    Frogeye

Surely you should be paid for any work you do?

But is washing up to go on lunch or home classed as work?

I don't know much about steel fabrication, but is washing up something you are doing for fun as a hobby, or is it an essential part of your job?

by washing up I mean washing your hands and getting out of your overalls and boots before going to lunch or heading home....

Ah! OK. I thought it was some sort of washing down the machine or something.

Based on my own experience, getting cleaned up would be done after you leave to go on your break or go home.
