Registering in Spain

    Hi all,

As part of Pan EU VAT returns on Amazon, I was wondering if anyone has tips about how to go about registering an Irish-based company in Spain?

The reason for this is that instead of paying a VAT company (such as VAT Global) €250 every 3 months, we can register and submit the returns ourselves. I have been advised that in order for us to do this, according to Spanish law you must be registered in Spain before submitting VAT returns directly. Otherwise you need an agent (which is too expensive given that the return is every 3 months).

    Thanks folks!

Thread carefully with the Spanish in relation to this sort of stuff.

look at all the steps and be aware of what returns you may have to make as a result of making vat returns.

    The answer may be none
My experience with them has been bad in the finance/accounting/tax/legal arena.
    Keep well.

Thanks for the reply. Can you elaborate on your experience?

Our company will be making VAT returns on sales through Amazon to Spain along with other EU countries.

Thanks for the reply. Can you elaborate on your experience?

Our company will be making VAT returns on sales through Amazon to Spain along with other EU countries.

I had a number of experiences, one being that they treated non spanish citizens NSC's differently to other eu citizens when it came to paying taxes, it took 10 year for the EU to get them in line but no redress.
Then they applied the same sort of discrimination to who could do a variety of returns, made NSCs use local agents, at 160 euro a qtr.
eventually it got resolved but again no redress.

I look after a suite of companies for Spanish folk here for the ease of doing business.
I may be wrong but I would not be a bit surprised if they asked you to have the AR VAT return made by a local agent:D

My experience of them is bad... Good luck

Ps: the way their complaints system works is that most shops have a complaints book which anyone can fill out in their native language.
Only ones written in Spanish get dealt with!
Ditto id =f you have a car accident where you are crashed into...has to be Spanish.

Yep, they want us to use a Spanish-based agent which VAT Global are. Either that or we register as a company in Spain.

I've been doing VAT returns myself and paying directly into the Banco Sabadell account that we were supplied only for all those payments to then be forwarded to VAT Global!!!!
