Hi guys, looked but cannot find anything on this, So we are a family of 5(2 adults 3 kids under 12), with flights leaving for Malaga from Belfast on Sunday. I dont think we will be going, what is our chances on getting refunds on taxes and 2 20kg baggage that we have paid for?
Does taxes be returned for both legs of journey, i.e taxes for Belfast to spain, and taxes from Spain to Belfast?
And can the baggae fees be reclaimed also 2 *20kg out and 2 * 20kg home (£120 in total)

Are you planning to claim from Ryanair or on your travel insurance?

    No, dont have insurance.

I believe there is a mechanism in place for taxes reclaim, but is there anything for Baggage fees?
And is there a time limit to reclaim, like do i have to wait for all flights to pass(i suppose i can only reclaim when my return flight has passed?)

You will be able to claim the taxes, less an administration charge which can be nearly as much! But everything else you lose. Your choice to travel or not. Can only do it after the flight segments have passed.

Insurance wouldn't have covered choosing not to go even if the op had it.

Really? I have spoken to my travel insurance company which has said it is dealing with these situations on a case by case basis and has forwarded me a claim form so that I can make a claim for a flight I chose not to take.

That would be a very generous insurance company. But good for them if they say that. 😎

Anybody any ideas as to why baggage charges cannot be claimed back, or seat charges for that matter?

because they are options you chose to pay for and then chose to use, or not use. The flight is leaving, whether or your bags are on it are not, isn't FR's problem, but they aren't going to refund you.

My 'very generous insurance company' has just repaid me in full!

    Who was your insurance with?

I’ll reveal all after I submit and get a positive/negative result for another family member - they said they were reviewing claims on a case by case basis so I have to wait now for the flight date to pass and then get a no-show letter and submit the paperwork.... I don’t want to overload them with other people’s claims!
