Mat well not fully sealed

I've lifted our coir mat from the back door due to dog pee and am planning on painting the concrete with weathershield to seal it once I have cleaned it with bio washing powder.

I never noticed before but the part behind the door was not poured and the insulation is exposed, see below picture.

I assume this was a missed snag? Can you think of any reason I can not concrete that bit over prior to painting all?

A friend said it was left on purpose as a cold bridge and he would concrete it over. Any more info appreciated.

There would be Perimeter insulation running round the edge of the slab (50mm usually) for cold bridging as your friend said.

Most walls the stud and plaster board/architrave would come out past this.

Whats the rest of the floor? could you run a 100mm strip of tile/timber at the door threshold and start the mat inside this?

I think it's probably standard where the floor insulation curved around. I weathershielded the concrete well and then duct taped the exposed insulation. That should keep an more puppy pee out for now!
