Combustion engine to EV engine swap

    Hi all,

I currently own a Nissan xterra 2013 in the UAE. I wanted to ship the car here but it is nearly impossible to do so (V6, 4.0L, GCC specs, left hand drive, petrol...). It would just be too expensive to get it here and on the road, if it is even allowed as jo insurance company was accepting the car.
However, I have not given up on this car. It is a beautiful car and I have had many adventures with, not to mention that it never let me down. So I decided to give an EV swap a try.
I've seen that companies do that to petrol cars, it is a little pricy but I am willing to pay that.
Does anyone know if the car would be allowed on the roads once the swap is done?
If yes, does anyone know of a company that would be willing to do this for me, and a really good job on the car. Money is not a problem, I just want a very good quality service that I won't regret in the future.

    Thank you.

    Best regards,
    Matthieu Saintin.

    Repeated at 6pm tonight.

The LHD will be a complete pain over here and future resale here will be near impossible. The cost of the conversion would likely match the difference in fuel prices between here and UAE for 5 plus years, difference in price now is about 80 cent a litre, better to leave engine as is. I would estimate at least €10k for the conversion at a minimum.

If it was me I would sell what you have and instead by a Porche Cayenne hybrid instead...

Might be cheaper to convert it to LPG is you will be living close to a fuel stations selling LPG.

LHD is grand. Been driving one for years, did my test in it and all. Luppy gas is the way to go I'd say. Don't mind the fear mongerers. Loads of them on boards take no notice just call ahead and do your homework before spending much money on the project to make sure its possible. Call a few insurance brokers and so on, check to make sure you can get the headlights right, you'll be on the high tax bracket so probably no need to worry about co2 cert.

Would doing an engine swap not make it even harder to register and insure?

just be too expensive to get it here and on the road,

EV Conversion will cost in multiple times more than importing it and getting it on the road with the engine thats in it already.

Really? How did you find out?

I was wondering, does the likes of cartell etc get updated to show the car is electric afterwards? It shows the cc of the car at the moment but just curious does that change afterwards.

The 12-D-122..... number plate was the first clue
